10 Cheesiest Music Videos from the 80s

The 1980s was a new era in music because thanks to MTV, we would have music videos for most of our favorite songs.

With that in mind let’s go back and remember, or forget, a random collection of the Top Ten Cheesiest 80’s Music Videos.

They are in no particular order:

1. Mr. Roboto by Styx

Don’t get me wrong Styx is a great band and they have proven that by still touring thirty-plus years later… but remember the video? This one included people dressed in robot suits.

2. I Think We’re Alone Now by Tiffany

If you forgot, Tiffany from Norwalk, California, did have a No. 1 hit with this remake, we’ll give her that credit. Now to the video, in case you forgot, the hair and the clothes…

3. I Ran by A Flock Of Seagulls

I always liked this song but let’s remember the video. There are alien-like women acting strange and plenty of weird camera angles. Great song, maybe not so great video.

4. Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham

I still am a fan of Wham and they had plenty of great songs, but not a fan of the video.

5. Micky by Toni Basil

Once again, I am sounding like a broken record, not to play on words, I love this song and it always packs the dance floor, but the video… Remember the cheerleader uniforms and almost the feel like the video was made with a handy cam, maybe it was. I rest my case.

6. DerKommisar by Falco

Strange and bad. That’s all I can say about this video.

 7. Cars by Gary Numan

First of all, anyone that knows me knows that I am a car fanatic! I love cars all kinds of cars and that is my point, no cars in the video. Alright a song about cars with no cars in the video…  just smoke machines and structures, but no cars.

8. Whip It by Devo

Most everyone that I know loves this song. But let’s think back on the video. First, of course, the Devo flower pot hats. Then there are the mannequins and the whip and even whipped cream.

9. Do You Really Want To Hurt Me by Culture Club

I always loved Culture Club and still do (and by the way they are ready to go back out on tour). But their video for “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me” is pretty cheesy. Boy George really did not give us an idea of what was going on in this video. The video and the song just don’t mesh.

10. Physical by Olivia Newton-John

This maybe my favorite of this whole list. Olivia never had a video like this one and it gave a whole different perspective of her style. She had always done love songs and this was not like any other, and the response, good or bad was huge!
