Halloween is almost upon us. Time to take a look at some scary 2016 Movies to get ready for the spooky Holiday. As always in no particular order.

1. The Purge: Election Year

This film was released in July of 2016 and is written and directed by James DeMonaco. The stars include Frank Grillo, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Mykelti Williamson. The plot, Years after sparing the man who killed his son, former police sergeant Barnes has become head of security for Senator Charlie Roan, a presidential candidate targeted for death on Purge night due to her vow to eliminate the Purge.

2. The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist

This film is directed by James Wan and was released in June 2016. The stars include Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Frances O’ Connor and  Madison Wolfe. The plot in the 1970’s, real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren travel to England to investigate special activity at a council house in the London Borough of England.

3. Don’t Breathe

This film was released in August 2016. The director is Fede Alvarez. The stars include Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Stephen Lang and Daniel Zovatto. The plot, The son of a cop (Minnette,’Goosebumps’) who crushes on a trailer-trash dreamer (Levy) joins her and a streetwise boyfriend to rob houses in rundown Detroit.

4. Train To Busan

This film is directed by Sang-ho Yeon and was released in July 2016. The stars include Gong Yoo, Kim Su-an and Jung Yu-mi. The plot, A selfish, workaholic father takes his 10 year old daughter on the bullet train from Seoul to Busan just as a zombie apocalypse breaks out.

5. The Witch

This film was directed and written by Robert Eggers and was released in February 2016. The stars include Anya Taylor, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, and Ellie Grainger and others. The plot, A family in  1630’s New England is torn apart by the forces of witchcraft, black magic and possession.
