The Palm Springs Art Museum was founded in 1938 and is a regional art, natural science and performing arts institution for Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.

The Museum is an amazing place with plenty to offer its visitors. They are open every day except Wednesday. Admission is free on Thursday from 4-9 pm. The Annenberg Theatre also features

The Annenberg Theatre also features well-known performers and a little something for everyone. The Palm Springs Art Museum also has a location in Palm Desert with free admission to the public all the time, thanks to the generosity of Helene V. Galen.

They offer wonderful exhibits year round and also an outstanding gift shop! Tours and Talks are available led by docents or even self-guided tours highlighting permanent and special collections. Be sure to take a look at our list of their current exhibits. New exhibits are on display on a regular basis throughout the year.

1. On the Grid, through May 22nd

This exhibit is coinciding with the inaugural presentation of Desert X, the international art biennial in the Coachella Valley. On the Grid is a look at settlement patterns in the high desert. Jeffrey Gibson’s Alive is also part of Desert X and his exhibit runs til April 30th.

2. Women of Abstract Expressionism, through May 28th

This exhibit presents the work of 12 American women artists in New York City and the San Francisco Bay area from the 40s and 50s.

3. Contemporary Glass through September 3rd

Enjoy this wonderful Kaplan/Ostergaard Glass Center presenting a variety of glass sculptures and techniques ranging from glass blowing and other creative methods.

4. Montgomery Meets Modernism: Two Americans through July 31st

In the 50s and 60s many Americans yearned for a simpler time and looked to the ideals and traditions of the American West, following the hardships of World War II. This exhibit features Hollywood icon George Montgomery’s own hand -crafted furniture and bronze sculptures with his collection of many Western paintings.

5. Western Stories, through September 4th

Dreams of the West are anchored to distinctive landscapes of the region. They span from Arizona to California. The potential promise and peril of the West created a wealt of stories.
