Keep your eye on the sky today, it’s quite possible you’ll be able to see a missile launch today from Vandenberg Air Force Base.

According to CBSLA, the Air Force Base will launch an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) for testing between 12p-4p today, Tuesday, May 30th.

It will be launched over the Pacific Ocean and it will try to intercept a “target object” which is located somewhere in the central Pacific Ocean.

People in Los Angeles should be able to witness the missile overhead, but not the target interception.

The missile is a Ground-Based Interceptor, and is being tested because North Korea has launched several missiles over the last month, in the Ocean over Japan.

Whether we’ll be able to see the missile from the Coachella Valley remains to be seen.  But keep your eyes open today and perhaps your kids will be able to see something very cool screaming across the sky.

Vandenberg Air Force Base is located approximately 130 miles northwest of L.A.
