Summer is always a great time for movies. There have already been several huge hits like Pirates of the Carribean:Dead Men Tell No Tales, Wonder Woman and The Mummy. Guardians of the Galaxy was a huge May hit. Here are a few more to watch for this Summer.

1. The Beguiled, Release Date is June 23rd

Nicole Kidman stars as the headmistress of a girls’ school during the Civil War. Other stars of the film include, Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst. If that isn’t enough star power, add Colin Farrell to the cast! By the way, Sofia Coppola is the director.

2. The Big Sick, Release Date is June 23rd

Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani and writer Emily V. Gordon’s real-life love story is the basis for this film. Early in their relationship, Emily played by Zoe Kazan becomes ill and is put into a medically induced coma. Kumail and Emily’s parents are played by Ray Romano and Holly Hunter!

3. Spider-Man: Homecoming, Release Date is July 7th

It is a pretty safe bet this will be one of the biggest films of the Summer. First of all, Robert Downey Jr. reprises his Iron Man role. Second, Tom Holland seems a good choice as the teenager learning the superhero role. Then there is the reveal of Zendaya’s mysterious character, Michelle!

4. Lady Macbeth, Release Date, July 14th

Florence Pugh simmers with rebellion and lust as Katherine, a young woman that is trapped in cold marriage. An affair with a servant awakens how life could be and murder could even be involved!

5. Girls Trip, Release Date, July 21st

Jada Pinkett Smith is the star of Girls Trip that might just be the Summer flick for you! She takes off to New Orleans for one night of sexy havoc with old friends played by Queen Latifah, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish.

6. Atomic Blonde, Release Date, July 28th

Charlize Theron stars as British spy Lorraine Broughton, who knows a thing or two about hand-to-hand combat. The film is adapted from the novel, The Coldeset City. It’s an action thriller that sets a woman front and center.

7. War for the Planet of the Apes, Release Date, July 14th

This is a major movie franchise that has found success against all odds. The cast includes Andy Serkis, Pieerre Boulle and Matt Reeves. Andy Serkis is in his element as the motion-captured leader of the Apes, Caesar.

8. The Dark Tower, Release Date, August 4th

Another highly anticipated Summer film, this is an incredibly complicated adaptation of of Stephen King’s consummate work.Matthew McConaughey stars as The Man in Black in this thriller.

9. Detroit, Release Date , August 4th

Kathryn Bigelow is the biggest auteur to have a film  coming out this Summer. The story is from 1967 and the story from then is very much the same as now. Judging by the first trailer, Detroit makes the Detroit Riots more intimate, cutting between large riots and a misunderstanding in a hotel room that escalates due to the escalation in the streets.

10. Logan Lucky, Release Date, August 18th

Big stars highlight this film including Daniel Craig and Katie Holmes. Steven Soderbergh is the Director. Logan Lucky is a southern-fried return to the heist genre that the director knows so well.
