A Florida boat captain became a hero after he rescued a cat that was allegedly thrown from a bridge in Destin Harbor, Florida.

Captain Jordan Smith told HuffPost he was out on the water when he saw what he thought was a bag of trash falling from the Marler Bridge above him.

When it started moving in the water, he first thought it was an otter, then realized it was a cat.

“I saw this little head swimming around,” Smith said. “She was swimming toward me, like, ‘Oh, human, save me!’” When he dipped his net into the water and pulled her out, she latched ahold of him and didn’t want to let go. “She was just staring at me the whole time” Smith added.

He’s named her Miracle and plans on adopting her when she’s released from the vet.

Miracle’s next challenge is to get along with Smith’s dog at her new home.
